Company Agronomist

The Company Agronomist plays an essential role at CF to help lead and develop agronomic input to the Company’s products and services at the distributor and farm levels. In this role you will lead and manage the Company’s agronomy R&D programme to focus on commercial and technical development and be the internal and external expert voice of agronomy for CF Fertilisers UK. Key working relationships will include working closely with the Marketing Department to provide public relations and technical collateral for marketing activities and the Sales Team to service the agronomic and technical needs of customers.

In this role you will be accountable for...


  • Relationships with customers and farmers on all agronomy and technical areas.
  • The quality and impact of agronomic and technical public relations.
  • Relationships with R&D providers, technical influencers and the agronomy areas of the Agricultural Industries Confederation.


  • To be an effective team member and support the objectives of the overall Commercial Team and its departments.
  • To support the Product Manager and Manufacturing Department colleagues in product management and development.


  • Making the R&D budget work to serve the agronomy and technical needs of the business.
  • Work with the Marketing Department on the PR plan and supply collateral to exceed plan expectations.
  • Work with the Product Manager, Manufacturing colleagues to develop products that are agronomically, commercially and environmentally appropriate.
  • Work with the Head of Marketing and Public Affairs Director to develop and deliver strategies and plans to help achieve Net Zero Carbon, Clean Air and Clean Water objectives.
  • Ability to statistically analyse data and interpret results to shape strategic decisions.
  • To ensure development of appropriate skills and knowledge and to pass Fertiliser Advisers Certification and Training Scheme (FACTS) exam within 1 year.
  • Develop the ability to effectively communicate the results of internal and external agronomic research to your colleagues, the fertiliser industry and the agricultural press.
  • To work with manufacturing colleagues on product development and testing.
  • To support R&D work in the field where appropriate through soil and crop sampling.

The skills, qualifications and expeirence you will have...

  • PhD or MSc in agriculture or life-science.
  • Science and technical skills.
  • Ability to attain Fertiliser Advisers Certification and Training Scheme (FACTS) qualification within 1 year.
