The role of a QS at CF is to ensure that the Company’s exposure to commercial risk is managed and balanced through the forecasting, budgeting, planning and execution of turnarounds, projects and term service contracts across the UK business.

The role reports to the Site Procurement Manager and is responsible for the identification, communication, agreement and execution of commercial management strategies that deliver measurable financial and commercial benefit at Ince Site.

In this role you will be accountable for...

  • Lead the performance management duties of site service contractors, ensuring KPI meetings and SRM meeting are chaired and delivered, as the procurement procedures specify and the business requires.
  • Provide support to the procurement teams, in preparing structured tender documents for turnarounds, projects, frameworks and term contracts.
  • Work closely with the Turnaround Managers, Maintenance Managers & Engineering Managers to accurately forecast and develop budgets prior to CAPEX/REVEX approval and through the whole lifecycle of the contract or term service. 
  • Support the contract management of turnarounds, term service and framework contracts in accordance with the principles of NEC. Ensuring that all early warnings, risk mitigation meetings and compensation events are conducted in accordance with the agreements.
  • Chair the daily turnaround risk mitigation meeting on behalf of the Service Manager, recording all issues, early warnings, compensation events and communicating the agreed actions and outcomes
  • Negotiate the effect of Compensation Events & Adjustment Events on behalf of the CF manager or his representative.
  • Oversee or manage risk registers for turnarounds, term service contracts, projects and framework agreements.
  • Ensure that all contractors engaged in turnarounds, term service contracts, projects and framework agreements issue timely and accurate applications for payment and that payment certificates are issued in accordance with agreed terms and conditions.
  • Provide accurate forecasting for the outturn costs of major events and projects, ensuring that all expenditure and forecast expenditure is authorised in accordance with company policy.
  • Lead the management of commercial risk, value management and cost control process.
  • Provide expertise in the event of contractual claims.
  • Ensure that the ongoing management of contracts is compliant with company policies and procedures and that all contracts are managed in accordance with contractual obligations and agreements.

The skills, qualifications and experience you will have...

  • RICS accredited degree / relevant degree and RICS qualification
  • MRICS QS charter-ship in quantity surveying (desirable)
  • Solid experience in a relevant industry
  • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and persuade others
  • Strong presentation skills, both in design and delivery
  • Excellent data analysis skills with the ability to forecast and demonstrate a methodical approach
  • A good working knowledge of Excel, Oracle and MS software
  • Contract management experience ensuring compliance and adhering to contractual obligations and agreements
  • Previous line manager experience with the ability to motivate and develop others
  • Willing to travel between plants on a regular basis
